Implementation of the Nagoya Protocol

2023: First legal authorization for iboga export (1 kg → TerraGnosis, genetic analyses). 2023: Unprecedented authorization of 100 kg (export in 20 kg batches) → First shipment of 20 kg to Mexico (TerraGnosis), $24,000 payment to A2E + 5% of future clinical revenues. 2024: Second export (20 kg), study on local transformation, draft bill submitted to the National Parks Agency.

Reforestation and conservation

33,799 iboga plants by end of 2023; 60,225 by end of 2024 across 23 sites. Diversification of other medicinal plants and forest species.

Fight against biopiracy & trafficking

Reports and investigations on iboga poaching. National & international awareness campaigns on Gabonese sovereignty.

Scientific & legal advocacy

Collaboration with TerraGnosis, OGAPI, WIPO (UN observer status obtained in 2024).

Impact 2023–2024

Establishment of an unprecedented benefit-sharing model (A2E–TerraGnosis). Enhanced protection of iboga through plantations and legal framework. Gabon officially represented at WIPO on intellectual property.
