Context

Created in February 2023 with the initiative and support of BOTF, the ANMMN brings together the temples of the Bwiti Missoko rite.

2023 Actions

• Official legalization of the association.

• Initial census: 17 temples, 440 registered traditional practitioners.

• Mobilization for the creation of a High Council of Rites and Traditions.

2024 Actions

• Major expansion: 69 temples recorded, 2,760 registered members.

• National awareness campaign (temple federation tour).

• Legal protection of the Bwiti Missoko heritage against biopiracy.

• Beginning of national and international institutional recognition.

Results

• ANMMN has become a structured and influential force in Gabon.

• Growing influence in cultural and ritual debates.

• Increased legitimacy to represent traditional knowledge internationally.

Challenges

• Rivalries between ritual branches (Missoko vs. Dissumba vs. Mimbiri).

• Limited official institutional support (political transition in Gabon).

Perspectives

• Expand the federation to all Bwiti branches.

• Position Gabon in the global debate on iboga and its uses.
